Vacancy: Animalogic Host and In-House Creator

Apply Now
About the role

Join Animalogic’s growing team of in-house creators. We make smart, visually driven stories about underreported species and ecosystems. If you’ve got a passion for the natural world, a specific field of interest or research background, and you’re ready to bring that to a large audience, this might be the role for you. We’re building a small in-house team of creators who shape the content from the ground up — from concept and scripting to hosting and visuals. You’ll be part of that creative core.

We’re looking for someone with subject matter expertise in a field related to animals, ecology, or the natural world. That could mean academic training, fieldwork experience, or a deep self-driven focus in areas like zoology, ecology, marine biology, herpetology, or evolutionary science. Maybe you’ve spent years researching frog communication in the Amazon, tagging sharks off the coast of British Columbia, illustrating the twisted love lives of parasitic insects, or studying why bowerbirds obsess over decorating their nests with blue bottle caps. Whatever your specialty, we want creators who bring real knowledge and a fresh perspective to the way we tell stories about life on Earth.

What you'll do

Be a key creator on our YouTube and streaming series

  • Host episodes of Animalogic, bringing depth, clarity, and personality to each story.
  • Collaborate with our editorial team to research, draft outlines and scripts.
Help shape each episode’s visual style by reviewing selects, directing shot choices, and giving feedback in post.
  • Participate in studio shoots for hosted segments, green screen work, or visual explainers, supported by our production team.
  • Participate in field shoots and research trips. Whether it’s filming in the wild, visiting conservation sites, or interviewing experts on location (all travel coordinated and supported by our production team).
  • Pitch new episode ideas, recurring mini-series and themed playlists under the Animalogic umbrella.
  • Collaborate on title and thumbnail development to help each video reach the audience it deserves.
  • Contribute to new format development for YouTube and our streaming TV channels.

Use performance data to improve storytelling

  • Review video and channel performance regularly with the publishing and analytics team.
  • Use retention curves, CTR, and watch time data to sharpen future scripts, pacing, and formats.
  • Lead your own short-form content
Create short-form videos weekly (YouTube Shorts, Reels, TikToks) that reflect your voice and interests and provide interest signals for long-form content
  • Pitch and execute ideas that are timely, visually strong, and grounded in real science.
  • Write, record, and edit your content — with support when needed.
Build loyalty and relationships with the audience
Engage with viewers through comments, Q&As, and occasional livestreams.
  • Develop a consistent tone and presence that audiences connect with across content formats.
  • Help create community posts and interactive content to deepen engagement.
  • Help foster a loyal, curious viewer base who values both the content and the creator behind it.

Additional Responsibilities (Occasional)

  • Write and film host-read ads or brand integrations that fit naturally into episodes.
  • Join brainstorms with our partnerships team to help shape brand-supported ideas.
Qualifications you bring

What We’re Looking For

  • On-camera experience, ideally with a background in science or wildlife storytelling
  • A clear area of passion or niche expertise related to animals, biodiversity, or ecology or subject matter expertise in a relevant field (zoology, marine biology, ecology, herpetology, evolutionary biology, etc.)
  • A unique point of view: you’ve got something specific you care about, and you know how to explain it in a way people care about too
  • Comfort with scripting, filming yourself, and editing (or openness to learning)
  • A creator mindset: you’ve made things before, or you’re driven to start
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small team
  • A growth mindset: you’re excited by data, iteration, feedback, and getting better with every video

This is a part-time role, but it can turn into a full-time salaried role. Hybrid within Ontario, Canada (Toronto-based is a plus). Includes opportunities for travel around the world.

If you want to tell stories that matter, build a deeper connection with your audience, and be part of a mission-driven team focused on the natural world, we’d love to hear from you.
